You know that life is good when after a full mornings work you feel better than when you started! I was physically tired this morning after a wonderful but very physically active full weekends teaching at Trafford Hall. As the England Football coach mentioned this morning. It takes longer to recuperate after 30yrs old 😉

The weekend was great fun and basically, as one participant put it, involved yoga, food, yoga, food and more yoga. My perfect days schedule. A routine that seemed to work for all concerned with obviously the choice to opt in and out as people chose. After all if you’re on a yoga weekend don’t you want to do as much yoga as possible, and also enjoy good food to keep up energy levels and reward the body. We had the additional extra of Oracle card readings and Shamballa healing over lunchtime and into the afternoon for those who wanted it. An extra that left everyone all dreaming and contemplative for the afternoons meditation. Now I am excitedly planning my week in Gran Canaria next February and some more workshops to give us the chance to explore certain ideas with more time than we would have in classes.

Now I am back to my usual week’s routine…. which isn’t to be honest much different to my schedule for the weekend! Some say I work too hard but my teaching isn’t work….. it is rewarding, fun and every day is different. I can teach a similar sequence to two different groups and they would each appreciate different parts of it. Today after class, two of my more recent students hugged me thank you for the benefits they have noticed since practicing yoga. How lucky am I to get such amazing feedback and to be able to make such a difference to people’s lives. Introducing them to a practice that has the potential to improve every aspect of their being.

Admittedly sometimes after a late evening class, an early morning session may not be my first choice but once awake I always feel good after my own personal gentle practice. Even 5-10minutes in the morning is enough to remind muscles and mind that life is better when yoga is a part of it!

Every day in class I see students who are stressed from work or who work all week just to pay bills and are then too tired at the weekends to enjoy life. I feel every day an appreciation of how lucky I am. I spend my spare time doing what I do for my work, I treat myself to learning more about the subject I teach, I immerse myself in my spare time in the world that is also my workplace.

I wish that everybody could be so lucky. I understand that people have different dreams. Some people want more separation between work and hobbies. Some people want to earn lots of money and live in a big house. Some people want prestige and fame.  For me to be lucky enough to live my dream, to wake every day knowing that I am able to make a difference, to share my passion and call it a job makes me feel so privileged. I haven’t got the obvious trappings of success but in my eyes, the important ones, I have achieved more than I could have dreamed of!
