We all know the phrase that ‘a change is as good as a rest’. Sometimes it is the mundanity of routine rather than physical or mental exhaustion that leads us to crave a holiday. So if your days are constantly bringing new challenges and new activities does that mean you get less tired. In my opinion yes.

I would dislike a life of routine. Knowing that I was in the same place, for the same hours, every week. I understand the benefits to working ‘normal’ hours…in that you could plan social activities more often & you may have more structured days. However lately my life has become a little too widely spread for even my liking. There are some days when I spend more time in the car than I do actually teaching. This to me isn’t the quality of life that I was aiming for.

Hence I have planned a change

Of venue. If my problem is the time spent travelling then the solution is to spend less time doing so! Easy enough in some ways. However my students that I teach privately are geographically spread around the Cheshire region. So the obvious solution was to provide a hub to which they could come to me. However would that not then mean I was going to be working in the same place, the same hours each week. Could this be another way my dream life was morphing into normality 😉

So my solution is a combination of what I want and what I need! The best solution I feel. I am opening a studio at which most of my classes and individual tuition can be based. I will also be able to offer hypnotherapy and Thai Yoga Massage from there. However I will maintain some clients to whom I travel and regular corporate work which provides me with the variety of working environments, which suits me, best. Then when I am not myself in my studio, other people can utilize my space…for personal training, exercise classes, pregnancy yoga, baby yoga & yoga for the special child to name but a few of the exciting things soon to be based in the new Yoga in Cheshire Studio.

So for me a change is as good as a rest. I feel revitalized and full of excitement for the new venture. Looking forward to working harder from September, as we will be able to offer a variety of classes throughout the days and evenings, both during the week and at weekends. Rather than the holiday I was thinking I needed… actually what I needed to do was to change my situation at home. I think this is often the case. That we run away on holiday to escape things that aren’t running how we want them at home or work. Then we come home from holiday feeling less rested as we walk back into the same situation we needed the holiday to escape from. Is it not better to examine the reasons you need to escape, to get away? Obviously a holiday or break can allow us the space to look at what we need to change. How we want to live. Maybe teaching us new skills, removing us from responsibilities we may have at home, or just giving us the physical or mental recharge to be able to return home and make changes. Is it not better to make your home & yourself, your refuge from the world rather than a brief break from a situation that isn’t how you want it?
