A follow on (or Om) from my last blog on change offers 4 simple ways we can improve our lives! No one is perfect, we all have beliefs or attitudes that don’t serve us in being the best possible version of us we can be.
So here’s 4 simple ways to change for the better
1. Recognise the effect of your environment. If you want to change a habit then do not keep returning to the environment. As with the drug addicts if you want to stop grazing from the fridge with your morning cup of tea, then change the environment! Maybe the time & type of drink you ingest. Or if it is feasible move around your kitchen so it looks different! Or if you find you made positive changes on a holiday then invest in a shower gel or picture that reminds you of that holiday to strengthen those positive changes.
2. Learn to change your thoughts and feelings as these are the building blocks of attitude and belief (another blog article!!) if you allow your thoughts to be negative then it’s not likely you’ll get positive habits or beliefs that expand your life!
3. Practice meditation. Yes I know you’re thinking it isn’t often easy to establish a habit but again we can use what we learnt in step 1 to help us here! Now we can make it easy! Build a routine into your day by establishing a reminder of your meditation, maybe a special place where you have everything ready for you. Make the habit as unconscious as possible to ..maybe just go & sit on your meditation cushion as the kettle boils off your morning brew. Knowing when you have finished the water will still be warm enough to re boil quickly! A reward strengthens the positive emotion associated with the activity so find some short term rewards to associate with meditation practice while the cumulative rewards of meditation accumulate! So make it easy and reward yourself…worth doing I think! Details of classes here
4. Recognise the power of hypnotherapy. Enlist support and help from a professional to quickly, and often easily, change your unconscious mind in a way that promotes the behaviour you want in your future not those you have held onto from the past.
5. Practice visualising where and who you want to be as often as possible. The more often you play a scenario, memory or visualisation in your mind the more we imprint it into our unconscious…so don’t play the pain loop play the positive health visualisation. Don’t think about the negative but turn it around into the positive….where you want to be not where you are moving forward from! Contact me for more details or find information here
